Trial 1: air
Trial 3: CO2
Conclusion Questions:
1. Our graphs are characterized by three lines: green, red, and blue. The green line represents the probe that was within the bottle, the red represents the probe exposed to sunlight, and the blue represents the probe that was not exposed to sunlight. In the first trial graph we can see that the blue line remains at a steady fairly moderate low temperature compared to the red line which shows a higher temperature that has somewhat of an increase and then a decrease at the end most likely due to cloud coverage. The green line has the highest temperature out of all three and also has a slight increase then decrease at the end. In trial two, the blue probe still remains at a constant low temperature with no increase or decrease while the red and green probe increase and then decrease at the half-way mark. In three the red and blue probes both increase in a different manor while the green probe makes a steep increase and then quick decrease.
2. Trial three shows the highest temperature and this is because we put tablets in the bottle that would release carbon which then trapped the light that came into the bottle heating it up greatly.
3. The only difference was in trial three where the probe in the bottle experienced the most rapid decline.
4. The major greenhouse gasses are carbon, methane, water vapor, and nitrous oxide, the most important is water vapor.
5. The differences between global warming and the greenhouse effect include that global warming directly refers to the temperature increase globally, and the greenhouse effect is a result of climate change. Heat enters the atmosphere in short wave radiation and is supposed to reflect and exit in long wave radiation but instead gets trapped and absorbed, heating up the earth. This then creates an increase in the greenhouse gasses which the creates long wave radiation that can not pass through the atmosphere which then heats up the earth.
6. Venus is hotter than mercury because it's atmosphere is made up of CO2 which traps the UV rays and heats up the planet.
7. The man made event that was the most significant addition to global warming has to be the industrial revolution because it was at that time when we started burning fossil fuels, adding to pollution, and creating a population boom. All of these things are some of the main causes of global warming.
8. The ten hottest years on global average have been: 2014, 2010, 2005,1998, 2013, 2003, 2006, 2006, 2009, 2007. If this trend continues we will see more droughts, wild fires, rising sea levels, extinction of species, worse air pollution, sickness, and unnatural weather. It will definitely have an impact on myself because I live on this planet with everyone else and all these things that come from global warming are dangerous and negative.
